With WV Women and Birthing People, For a Lifetime

The West Virginia Affiliate of the American College of Nurse-Midwives promotes the health and well-being of birthing people, women and newborns within their families and communities through the development and support of the profession of midwifery as practiced by Certified Nurse-Midwives (CNMs) and Certified Midwives (CMs).

WHO WE ARE

What is a Midwife?

Certified Nurse Midwives and Certified Midwives are independent healthcare providers. They also work with other members of the health care team, such as physicians and nurses, to provide the highest quality care. CNMs and CMs work in a variety of settings, such as hospitals, medical offices, clinics, birth centers, and homes. They provide general health care services, gynecology care, family planning, and maternity care (before, during, and after childbirth). They are covered by most insurances.
